Portfolio Website - First Usability Testing Debrief

 PORTFOLIO WEBSITE.

WORK WITH CLIENT – RESPONSIVE WEB DESIGN.

FIRST USABILITY TESTING DEBRIEF.

BACKGROUND

We need to run a usability testing on a mid-fidelity prototype of our product – a portfolio website of a film composer.

GOALS

·         Find out if the design of the website makes sense to the user at this stage of creation.

·         Determine any areas that require change or improvement.

METHODOLOGIES

·         Write a list of user tasks and observe the participants complete them.

·         Ask additional insightful questions or give additional tasks to the participants if the flow of the testing gives grounds for it.

·         Record and/or document the findings.

·         Ask the participants if they have any questions or suggestions based on their experience with the website.

TASKS

·         Find more information about the composer.

·         Find more of the composer’s film music samples.

·         Find ways to get in touch with the composer.

·         Browse the rest of the content of the website and find the way back to Homepage.

PARTICIPANTS

·         Henry Ihander, music producer, songwriter.

·         Pedro Coloma, beginning film composer.

RESULTS/FINDINGS

·         0 out of 2 participants experienced any problems using the website.

·         Task completion rate – 100%.

·         No areas/features requiring change/improvement determined.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

·         1 out of 2 participants suggested to add respective icons to the navigation links for better visual perception.

CONCLUSION

Since no areas/features requiring iteration were determined, we can:

·         Discuss with the client if she is interested in adding icons to the navigation links.

·         Continue to the next stage – high-fidelity design.

·         Prepare a high-fidelity prototype and run another usability testing, preferably with more participants.
